New Journal New Ownership Plans Leaked!

No Gravatar

It was brought to my attention, by an insider Source, (Someone who works for the News Journal), that Monday morning, the New owners will be walking into the offices on 6th St in Holly Hill, and 10% of this workforce is going to be fired. Futhermore, they were telling me that when they started working there, there was over 800 people working for the News Journal, now that number is Half, at 400 people employed by the News Journal. This does not include the people who Deliver your Paper to the front door, those are Private Contractors.

So New Ownership of the News Journal is to come with more Job losses for our Local citizens. They come in, 10% will be fired, after 6 months, they can do whatever they want with staffing.

Your Thoughts?

Dead Tuna Bitch, Florida

When I was calling a morning radio show in Daytona, I refered to it as Dead Tuna Bitch, Florida. The female armpit of Florida, and she didn’t shave or use deodoraunt…..

(Admin) I guess we can dedicate this post to any nicknames anyone has for the surrounding area.

My Reply to their Weak attempts of a threat:

LMAO, that is funny. That this Newspaper cant handle the truth… You can remove my account if you want, but I have over 20 email addresses, so you can not keep me from posting on your website. But on a side note, could you tell me where on your site the Wierd News section has been moved too? I have yet to find it, and found those to be the funniest stories posted. As the writers for the News Journal are majorally failing at writing reports, and they are so biased that it makes you wonder why anyone would still PAY for your Newspaper subscription… If the News Journal wasnt trying to be so Liberal and controlling in what it reports, you would find that most people would probably re-subscribe to your joke of a newspaper.

Driving on the Beach

No Gravatar

An article in today’s News Journal inspired this post. An innocent little girl lost her life yesterday when crossing the beach traffic. My condolences go out to the family of this young girl. The debate here is everyone is pointing fingers. Who is to blame? My concern is people think by removing beach driving you eliminate the problem. Okay so now you take all of the driving off of the beach, one of the last reasons people still come here, and make a bunch of parking lots across the street which cost more taxpayer money, then people just get hit by cars going 40MPH on A1A when they try to cross. Accidents are going to happen and it’s unfortunate that they do. Taking away beach driving is going to make this town less desirable than it already is. If I’m not mistaken you use to be able to drive from Ponce Inlet to Ormond Beach without getting off of the sand. Maybe these areas of the beach wouldn’t be so over crowded and dangerous if they spread out the permitted driving areas like it use to be. I use to love cruising the entire beach with everyone hanging out in the back of the truck. Those were the days. I say open the beach back up the way it use to be and you will have less traffic in confined areas. Now it is more of a hazard cruising 2 miles then getting off the beach to drive to the next on ramp. Leave it all open, enforce the speed limit, and practice safe crossing. I would much rather dodge a 10mph car than one traveling around 40mph. Not only that, but it is nice to leave your valuables, lotions, towels, toys, etc. near by in your car than have to run back across A1A because you forgot something. I’m sure the single mother would just love carrying the kids and all of the gear across the street. Sounds more dangerous to me. If you don’t believe how important beach driving is here go ahead and Wiki Daytona Beach, FL. Read the second paragraph. If you don’t think removing driving on our beach would kill this town even more you are out of your mind.

Why DirtonaBeach.com?

No Gravatar

DirtonaBeach.com was recently challenged by a new user which I have no problem with. This site is designed for everyone and their opinion. Just to prove that I have copied the recent comment a response below. Unlike the Daytona Beach News Journal and other websites I’m not going to delete comments to hide anything. If the comments relate to the topic they will stay. If you read the News Journal article today “BCR promoter, city at odds” you would have notices about 15 comments by about 10:30am. If you went back to the site you will see that they closed the commenting on this story probably because of the race topic getting out of hand. That won’t happen here my friends!

Abodame99 says:

If people on this site want change, instead of writing about it on this blog, why not go out, vote, run for mayor. Do something besides complain!

admin says:

Response to Abodame99. Do you feel better now that you went through all of that trouble signing up just to say that? Did the intelligent half of you ever sit back and think of where the possibilities can go with a website like this? Don’t think of it merely as a bitch fest. Do you understand the power of a website once it has reached certain user levels? If enough people join together to share their feelings on something they feel strong enough about did the thought of the political impact ever cross your mind? This is how clubs and committees are founded these days. So don’t be so quick to judge and if becoming the mayor is so easy why don’t you go for it and let us know how it goes.

Black College Reunion

No Gravatar

Do you really think the black college students working on their masters and other honorable degrees are the ones showing up for Black College Reunion? Of course not. The few that do, not knowing what really happens here, are the innocent people getting caught up in the mess. Can you sit here and blame black people for all of the problems? Not at all. Can you blame an event that is targeted for a certain group of people? I believe you can. The majority of the people causing problems are local hoods that are coming out because they can blend in with the visitors, cause problems, and get away because they know the town’s ins and outs. We could prevent a lot of problems by just having spring break be one event for ALL college students. We don’t have white college reunion, Mexican college reunion, or any other race specific events besides this one.

You know what really grinds my gears????

No Gravatar

I know that this page is designed to discuss what is going on in our community and the surrounding areas, the problem that I am going to talk about not only happens here but pretty much everywhere I have ever been. What is the deal with the people in this town driving 10mph below the speed limit???? I am so sick and tired of driving the SPEED LIMIT in this town and having to slow down at least 10mph below the speed limit or have to pass the car in the slow lane. It seems like Dunlawton Ave is about the worst. I never really realized how bad it was until I transferred to my new office in Port Orange. Everyday I drive down Dunlawton to get to my job and I have to follow behind this old ass people driving 35mph or if I am really lucky they actually drive 40mph! Did I miss the memo or something??? It is like these people are in a trance or something! It could be the drugs that these people are on or it could be the fact THEY ARE TOO OLD TO DRIVE!!!! I have put a lot of thought into this, and I think it is time that there is an age restriction put on driving. I feel that if you are over the age of 60 you need to go to the DMV and take a driving test, not a written test! If you cannot drive a vehicle at the posted speed limit and maintain that speed you should not be able to drive. Reaction time is also a huge factor as well. How many times have you seen a story on the news or in the newspaper about some old person that ran through a building because they thought they were hitting the brakes? How many people have been killed by these old people that have more drugs running through their systems than Cheech and Chong!! It is sad to say that most of these old people actually have more drugs than the actual drug dealers in this town. A lot of people do not realize that prescription drugs are just as bad if not worse than some of the illegal drugs that are out there. Half of these new medications that are out there have crazy ass side effects that can cause death and these people are driving with this stuff in their system. I can’t tell you how many people I have seen get out of their cars and almost fall over trying to get to the back seat to pull out thier walker or their wheelchair, not to mention how many people almost fall asleep when they go inside and sit down. I have actually been inside a building when an old man drove his car through the front door, his foot was still on the gas when I ran up to the car to see what was going on. He had no idea that his foot was on the gas, keep in mind the tires were still spinning when I got to the car. As I am getting the car in park and turning it off, his wife gets out of the car and walks into the bank to make a deposit and rollover a CD while I am taking care of the wreck that her husband just caused. To make matters worse, the police came and gave the old man a ticket and LET HIM DRIVE HOME!!! WTF!! If that was someone my age, 25, we would have been thrown in jail and put through a DUI test before we would have been let go. I also believe that a person that is traveling 10mph below the speed limit should be pulled over. It is just as dangerous for someone to be driving to slow as it is for someone to be driving to fast. These people that are driving so slow can actually cause accidents!  In closing let me just say it one more time, DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT NOT 10MPH BELOW…THE ACTUAL LIMIT!!!!!!!!

What happened to Spring Break?

No Gravatar

As most of us know Daytona Beach use to be the place to go for Spring Break. Now MTV has much nicer exotic places to go since we ran them and everyone else out of here. Now Spring Break in Daytona just seems like a place for locals to go out and cause trouble with the few out of towners that showed up for some reason. If you made your way over to the News Journal today you would have read that the rape number for the early beginning of Spring Break was already at 6 in one week. “All of last year we had a total of 41 sexual assaults,” Police Chief Mike Chitwood said Tuesday. “Here we have six in one week.” Wouldn’t it be great to see our town on TV again for positive reasons? Stories like this are just going to scare even more people away.

Fire Department vs EVAC

This has been an ongoing debate. Some feel that we are wasting money paying a 3rd party company like EVAC to do EMS transport instead of allowing qualified county paid firefighters to handle the situation. My theory on Dirtona Beach relationships

No Gravatar

What is it with these beautiful girls with loser guys? I’d say in the past 5 years or so the roles of a man and a woman have changed. What do I mean by that? Women use to be the conservative, organized, clean people with some class. Now women seem to be the men in the relationship. I think that is why they get with losers. It’s a power thing. By being with an insignificant man they feel in charge because that guy is lucky to have her. The remaining single women in this town are usually single for a good reason. I’ve been out of this town plenty to say that it is a sausage party here. Where are all of the good women? Oh ya with the losers! I guess nice guys do finish last around here. So my conclusion is if you want to pick up a decent woman in Dirtona you should quit your job, dress like a bum, move back in with your parents, and drive their car to Seabreeze Avenue. Such a classy town isn’t it?

The World’s Most Famous Beach……Dirtona Beach FL

No Gravatar

Daytona Beach used to be known as the World’s Most Famous Beach and now nobody wants to come here. Daytona Beach has now picked up a very interesting nickname, Dirtona Beach. This town has become a dirty and downright pathetic place to come on vacation or to live. At one time people would come from all over the country to visit Daytona for Spring Break, Bike Week and for NASCAR. It seems like today there are less and less people coming here to visit and for those that do, there is nothing here for them to do. The so called clubs in this town have totally become “thugged out” and the good bars we used to frequent are now closing their doors. People want to come to Daytona to have a good time and that includes having clubs and bars to go to, not shuffle board or cheap ass flea markets. I have heard about a group of elderly people going around and buying up all of the liquor licenses up so that the number of new bars is severely limited. I think that it is pathetic that as locals we have to drive to another city over 30mins away in order to have a good time. We are continuing to lose revenue each year, and I can’t help but think this could be a major reason why. Daytona needs to have more events that will draw crowds to come here; we should be having things like Earth Day Birthday happening here locally. Spring Break needs to return to Daytona! Bring in some musicians, hell, BRING BACK MTV!!!! We need to fix this town before it gets too late. The homeless population is getting worse and worse, the drugs are out of control. The younger generation in this town needs to get involved, we must start going to town meetings and voting on the issues that are going to impact us. If we do not do anything nothing will change in this town. I know it seems like the population in this town is 99.9% older than GOD but it’s not, there are more young people that what we realize. Let’s make DIRTONA BEACH turn back into DAYTONA BEACH; let’s make this a vacation destination and a good place to be.

Dirtona Beach International Speedway Pot Hole

No Gravatar

The hole in the concrete kind of sums up Daytona Beach. All the hype about how great NASCAR is going to be this year and they start it off with red flags because of a run down speedway. This is one of the only things left on the map and it is even falling apart. Not a good impression or a way to start off the new season. Maybe it’s a sinkhole that will suck up this entire town so we can start over.

Seabreeze area beachside going to hell

No Gravatar

Nearly every block in Seabreeze so-called “residential” area has two or more commercial apt. buildings and its fast becoming an intergrated area due to this poor zoning. I know one man who owns a private home in the 900 block who has commercial rental properties on each side of his home and he keeps two guns in house one downstairs and one upstairs because of rash of home buglaries in the neighborhood.  In the same block 50% of the parcels are rental properties and none of the landlords live in them. Next door to one home there is a commerical parking lot with large running commercial buses, semi trucks and motorhomes often parked right beside the  house in violation of city codes which prohibit emission of fuel fuems across property lines and police code enforcement does nothing. This town and its government are for the dogs and the demise of dirtona with every other store front vacant and high unemployement and vacant oceanfront lots all up and down Atlantic Ave. on East and West side is well deserved for a town (not a city) that can’t pass proper zoning. Look at all the homeless on Ridgewood Ave. another result of a do nothing local government!!
